The RED Directive 2014/53/UE (Radio Equipment Directive), which replaced the R&TTE Directive, has been applicable since 13 June 2016 to regulate radio apparatus with a view to applying the CE mark. Radio devices in conformity with the essential requirements of this Directive can be marketed freely within the European Union.
The RED Directive 2014/53/EU has been applicable since 13 June 2016 and obligatory since 13 June 2017. It substituted the R&TTE Directive (which is no longer applicable).
One of the most significant changes introduced by the RED Directive is certainly the change in the field of application (domestic, commercial, medical, industrial, means of transport), which includes and excludes specific types of product compared to the previous R&TTE:
ECO Certificazioni offers conformity assessment activities for radio products and telecommunications apparatus pursuant to the RED Directive, through a vast range of tests: from tests on electric safety and human exposure to electromagnetic fields, to electromagnetic compatibility tests (EMC) and verification of the radio spectrum.
